Getting to Locking Parklands

 

Locking Parklands has great transport links. The M5 and A371 are a short drive away, and the neighbourhood is well connected by foot and bike, with walking and cycle routes running directly through it.

Locking Parklands has its own community bus service which offers sustainable travel to Weston-super-Mare town centre, local supermarkets and the nearby retail park. The beautiful city of Bristol is just 18 miles away.

The nearest train station, Weston Milton, is less than three miles away from Locking Parklands and will connect you with larger destinations such as Bristol, Taunton and Bath. Western-super-Mare train station is also only four miles away, with links across the country and into Wales.

Locking Parklands is just a short walk from Locking Village which has a Post Office, convenience store and a range of independent shops, as well as a hairdressers and village hall.

The development sits five miles east of Weston-super-Mare, a seaside town steeped in history with a strong mix of independent and big-name shops, restaurants and cafes, alongside brilliant beaches and a huge range of activities for the whole family.

Weston-super-Mare’s vast and impressive beach is one of the best in the country and is just a few miles away. The coastline also boasts new attractions such as Dolphin Square complex with a cinema, health club, bowling alley, hotel, shops, cafés and restaurants.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whose landscape includes dramatic gorges, caves, views over the Bristol Channel, Iron Age hill forts and havens for wildlife is on the doorstep. Just a stone’s throw away from the beach, you’ll discover The Playhouse Theatre. Weston Museum is a charming and historical home to numerous complimentary exhibitions and collections, displaying various objects from across North Somerset. Some of the most popular collections on offer here include A Living Landscape and The Tides of Change.

The stunning Strawberry Line Heritage Trail is a 10-mile route which meanders through a variety of landscapes, filled with rich wetland regions and various rural villages. Sweeping across the national cycle network route (26), the trail follows the dismantled Cheddar Valley Railway Line (from Yatton Railway to Cheddar). Home to a wide variety of diverse habitats, you’ll easily discover rhynes and canals, alongside various footpaths and bridleways. The route is certainly a popular one and can be accessed from several starting points.

Kids

The Animal Farm and Adventure Park boasts a whole host of attractions, from penny amusements to ‘The Giant Indoor Play Barn’. This is certainly a place where you can let the younger ones run wild whilst you take a well-earned break with a light snack or refreshment.

The Puxton Park hosts the popular ‘Adventure Park’ and the ‘Farm Shop & Meadows Restaurant’ and  is certainly a family favourite. Tickets are well priced, ranging from FREE to £13 (Low Peak, High Peak). All rides are completely free once you enter, meaning that it’s non-stop fun for the little ones.

Lifestyle

Located on the Bristol Channel Coast, Weston-super-Mare beach attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. With a range of events held here including, the Weston Beach Race and Weston-super-Mare Air Festival, this stunning stretch of sand is highly popular for both tourists and local residents.

The Sand Bay is a stunning expanse of sand and is an excellent location for a Sunday stroll with the dogs. Take in the spectacular views and visit the quaint tearooms after working up a sweat. Here you can enjoy a variety of walks, or you can choose the more exhilarating option with a horse ride along the peaceful tide line.

Home to one of the UK’s most unique and inspiring festivals, Weston-super-Mare plays host to the spectacular ‘Sand Sculpture Festival’ on an annual basis. Since 2006, hoards of visitors flock to the beach to admire an array of exquisite sculptures. Visitors and budding creators can easily get involved by producing their very own works of sand art too. It is certainly an event not to be missed. With tickets starting from as little as £4, this extraordinary event is certainly worth every single penny.
